Nail the timing
Golden hour — just after sunrise or before sunset — gives you soft, warm light and a glowing skyline. Blue hour, the ~20 minutes after sunset, turns the city into sparkling lights against a deep sky. Midday sun is harsh and flat; avoid it. (See our best time of day guide.)
Find the right angle
- Face the skyline so the city sits behind you — that’s the money shot.
- Position the photographer with the sun behind them (not behind you) to keep your faces lit.
- Use the water and sand as clean, uncluttered foreground.
- Scout a spot where the crowd naturally falls outside the frame.
Hidden then posed
